LED Deck Lighting

The emergence of the LED lighting systems has been quite a boom in many areas. One of the more recent is their application to the deck or path lighting systems that are becoming more prevalent with the advent of more leisure time in the garden. The modern decking takes on a whole new aura at night when the area is properly lit and the paths and walkways are properly defined. The whole of this lighting was fairly expensive both to buy and in particular to run.

The cost of an LED lighting system greatly reduces the cost of running the lighting system and the cost of the bulbs, whilst similar in price on installation, becomes very cheap when the life cycle is taken into account. From an environmental position they are even better as the amount of carbon dioxide saved is a reduction to 1 fiftieth of the normal lights, giving the lights a much better carbon footprint. The Aurora 240 v LED Aluminium Decking Light Kit provides a deck marking system which includes 6 deck lights that can be placed at your discretion. Each bulb is rated at 1W power, which when related to the typical 50W fluorescent or incandescent bulb gives an enormous saving. Each LED light is made up of 5 marker LED’s and the driver is capable of running up to 16 lights each with a 2 metre cable and although they are non dimmable they are quite sufficient to mark the route with adequate light.

One of the major advantages is that these lights have a life cycle of 30,000 to 50,000 hours so maintenance is very low. An odd wipe over with a cloth will be sufficient to keep them effective and looking good. They are “Walk on lights” so they can be installed in the walk ways although it is probably best to fit them to the side of the walkway. The flexibility and ease of fitting into a decking system makes the number of different permutations that you can install very large. The operating costs will be so low in that a full 16 LED light system would only use 16W, and this very low level allows the system to be permanently lit during the evening hours of darkness without the expectation of a horrendous electric bill. It is finally noted that the cool running of these bulbs will not harm small feet or paws when they walk over them.
